Privacy Policy

Last updated: 31 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how P & C ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects personal data when you play Pike and Claw (the "Game") or visit the Pike and Claw Rulebook at rules.pikeandclaw.com (the "Site").

If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Game or the Site.

Who we are

Pike and Claw is developed and published by P & C, a sole trader operated by Ethan Widen. For any privacy question, request, or complaint, contact us at:

  • Publisher: P & C (Ethan Widen)
  • Email: edwiden96@gmail.com

P & C is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

Data we collect

Account sign-in data

The Game offers optional sign-in through a third-party online services provider. If you choose to sign in and grant the permissions requested at sign-in, we receive the following:

Data Why we receive it
Account ID To identify your account and link it to your game progress
Display name To show you and other players who is in a lobby or match
Country To route you to appropriate game servers and meet regional legal requirements
Email address (only if you consent) To contact you about your account and about service issues
Friends list and presence (only if you consent) To let you see and invite friends inside the Game

Sign-in is optional and you can play without it. If you withdraw a permission, we stop receiving the related data and the features in the Game that depend on it may no longer work.

Your account itself belongs to that provider, not to us. Its own privacy policy governs the data it holds about you and the controls it offers you, and this policy does not speak for it.

Data you provide directly

  • Support requests, bug reports, and feedback you send to us, including anything you choose to include in them.
  • Content you submit in the Game, such as a chosen player name or in-game messages.

Data collected automatically

  • Gameplay data — match results, faction and deck selections, progression, and in-game statistics.
  • Technical data — device type, operating system, game version, crash reports, and diagnostic logs.
  • Site data — the Rulebook is a static documentation site. It does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, request time, page requested, user agent) for security and reliability.

We do not knowingly collect payment card details, government identifiers, biometric data, or precise location data.

Why we use your data

We process personal data only where we have a legal basis to do so:

Purpose Legal basis
Creating and maintaining your player account and saved progress Performance of a contract
Providing matchmaking, lobbies, friends, and other online features Performance of a contract
Responding to support requests Performance of a contract / legitimate interests
Diagnosing crashes, fixing bugs, and improving game balance Legitimate interests
Detecting cheating, fraud, and abuse, and keeping the service secure Legitimate interests
Optional marketing or update emails Consent
Meeting legal and regulatory obligations Legal obligation

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for behavioural advertising or automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

Who we share data with

We share personal data only in these circumstances:

  • Online services providers — the third-party platform and online services we use for account sign-in, matchmaking, friends, presence, and related online infrastructure. Their own privacy policies govern the data they hold, and we encourage you to read them.
  • Service providers — hosting, crash reporting, and analytics vendors who process data on our instructions under written contracts and may not use it for their own purposes.
  • Other players — your display name and in-game activity are visible to players you are matched with.
  • Legal and safety — where required by law, court order, or valid legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of our players, our team, or the public.
  • Business transfer — if the Game is sold or transferred, your data may transfer to the acquiring party under this same policy until it is superseded with notice to you.

International transfers

We and our service providers may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where data leaves the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep data

  • Account and progression data — for as long as your account is active, and for up to 90 days after you request deletion so we can complete the removal across backups.
  • Crash and diagnostic logs — up to 12 months.
  • Server access logs — up to 30 days.
  • Support correspondence — up to 24 months.

We delete or anonymise data once it is no longer needed for the purpose it was collected for, unless a longer retention period is required by law.

How we protect data

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), access controls limiting data access to team members who need it, and regular review of our providers' security practices. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable and appropriate measures to protect your data and will notify you and the relevant regulators of a qualifying breach as required by law.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you and receive a copy.
  • Correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Restrict or object to certain processing, including any processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Port your data to another service in a machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out.
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal data — we do not sell or share personal data as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act.

To exercise any of these rights, email edwiden96@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days and will not discriminate against you for making a request. We may need to verify your identity before acting.

If you are in the EEA or UK and believe we have not handled your data properly, you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children's privacy

The Game is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA and UK, where local law sets that higher age). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children below the applicable age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact edwiden96@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly.

Any age assurance or parental controls attached to an account you sign in with are administered by the provider of that account, under its own policies.

The Game and the Site may link to third-party websites and services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and we encourage you to read their policies before providing them with personal data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Game evolves or the law changes. The "Last updated" date at the top will always reflect the current version. If a change materially affects how we use your data, we will give you notice in the Game or by email before it takes effect.
