Concealed¶
A Troop with Concealed is hidden in the undergrowth — hard to hit, but only while your army holds the initiative.
Concealed is different from Burrow. A Concealed Troop is face-up on the battlefield with its stats and costs active; a Burrowed Troop is face-down with neither.
Rules¶
- A Troop with this Quirk is Concealed only while its controlling player is Leading in Morale. Lose the Morale lead and the Quirk switches off.
- While Concealed, this Troop takes no damage when it is Charged against.
- If its controlling player declares the Charge, a Concealed Troop still takes damage. Concealment protects you when you are being attacked, not when you break cover to attack.
- Enemy Troops with the Tracker Quirk ignore Concealment entirely and may damage Concealed Troops with a Charge or Shotte.
Notes¶
The asymmetry in rule 3 is the point: Concealed rewards holding the Morale lead and declining to Charge. That pairs naturally with Local Favor, which you also only gain by declining. A Concealed army that sits still is very hard to remove — and very passive.
Under playtest
Concealed remains the most problematic Quirk in the game and its wording is not final. The alternative being tested: a Troop enters play Concealed, and thereafter is only Concealed while its controller is Leading in Morale.
